HISTORY •
((Sorry. This history is real long.))
An only child, Max’s richparents initially doted on him and gave him whatever he wanted, until the day they found out about his powers. Max was bullied incessantly at school and one day, he decided to hit back. He was expelled from his primary school for damage to property, as well as badly harming some of the other students and one teacher. His parents were mortified and sent him to a strict boarding school, where he kept his head down. Having no friends and no-one else to talk to, Max became depressed and was unmotivated to study, so he did badly. He hooked up with a girl who apparently had a thing for loner kids, but it turned out she had a boyfriend, who found out and picked a fight with Max. Predictably, Max ended up getting expelled again. In the midst of this his parents went through a long and messy divorce. His mother was barely able to look at him without showing her disappointment and even disgust. She ran off with a young Jamaican man, leaving Harrison to look after Max on his own. Max’s second high school was a posh private school, better than his last one and closer to home. There he joined the Drama class and through the years learnt to gain popularity by becoming a different person. By the end of high school he was a changed man, though was little company now to his lonely father. Max left home as soon as he could. Months later he learned that his father had died, presumably committing suicide. He attended the funeral, though felt strangely blank about it, as if it had been a long time since his family had been an important part of him.
He met Dr. Horrible when he was twenty-two and Dr. Horrible was seventeen. Dr. horrible became his first nemesis when Max stopped him from committing what seemed to him to be a terrible crime. After that, Max decided to get into the Heros Guild. He dubbed himself Captain Hammer, and quickly climbed the ranks of heroism. More and more, he forgot who he had once been, to the point where most know him only as Captain Hammer, and he is barely seen out without his costume.
He got himself into the Hero’s Book with a letter from Wingspan, one of the more popular heroes. First, of course, he had to undergo a test of his mettle. His test was to make his way out of a hedge maze. It was a game of cunning, strategy and careful memorisation. Hammer rode his motorcycle clean through it. The heroes in the Guild were so amused that they put him in the Book and even asked if he wanted to apply for the Guild. He said yes without hesitation, and after a few interviews and a face-off against a robot, he was in.
He doesn’t spend much time with the rest of the Hero’s Guild; not time he enjoys, anyway. He doesn’t work well on a team, stealing all the action for himself and never giving his coworkers an opening to help. Hence, he mostly does his own thing.
